Renaissance Beams Presents The No Mess "Back From Black" Beam Process

Construction News Image
The "back from black" beam process is an applied water based process that gives beams their natural look without the need for sand blasting, mechanical or chemical stripping with NO mess, dust or the need to redecorate or repair plaster.

The process was developed by company director Penny Penny several years ago and has since been refined to give greatly improved finishes. Penny came up with the process approximately ten years ago after a client asked if there was anything she could do with the black beams in her 17th century cottage. The local conservation officer would not allow sand blasting as it was a listed building and chemical stripping by hand was too messy and would take too long.

Penny commented: "The 3 coat process is applied directly onto the existing painted, stained or varnished beams (all coats consist of water based materials). The finish shown gives a reasonable idea of the quality but photos do not do justice to the actual beams, they do need to be seen to be believed. We can process a single beam, room or a complete house."
