Quintain Estates/Release Details Of The Next Phase Of Wembley City
Quintain Estates & Development has released the first details of the next phase of Wembley City, covering the 14 acres of land surrounding the new Brent Civic Centre, to the west of Olympic Way.
The plans, which go on display at a public exhibition at the Wembley Plaza Hotel on 14 July, will create a new neighbourhood around the Civic Centre, including 1,300 homes centred around a new community park. New shops, hotel space, student accommodation and affordable workspace are also included within a total development quantum of up to 160,000 sq metres. There will also be major improvements to Olympic Way which will be transformed from a single empty space into a network of open spaces of varying character.
The new plans around the Civic Centre complement the existing consents at Wembley City, where
development is already well underway. Wembley Arena has been fully renovated and Arena Square opened, the first 520 new homes have already been completed and other building work on site is also well advanced.
By September 2013, Quintain will also have created the Hilton International Hotel, delivered the new student accommodation, completed the nine screen cinema and opened a major new retail core including a designer outlet centre.
Councillor Ann John OBE, Leader of Brent Council, said: "The regeneration of Wembley is hugely important for the Borough and it is great to see the transformation already taking shape. Our planning policy does seek attractive new shopping at Wembley and it is no surprise to me that the research confirms this desire from local people too."
