Speedy Appoints Top Marketing Boss

A top provider of equipment rental and support services has appointed a new Group Marketing Director.

Steve McIntyre joins Speedy, a successful business with clients across the construction, infrastructure, industrial, manufacturing and facilities management sectors, following a five-year spell as Marketing Director for PPG Architectural Coatings, the owner of the Johnstone's and Leyland paint brands.

A qualified polymer chemist - who previously headed up the marketing team at French utility giant Gaz de France (GDF Suez), Mr McIntyre studied marketing strategy at Chicago North Western University's Kellogg Institute in 2001, and has worked in an international marketing role in the oil and gas sector for almost 20 years - including several years in the Middle Eastern Gulf States.

Speedy's Chief Executive Steve Corcoran said Steve McIntyre's wealth of experience made him the ideal choice to lead the FTSE-listed firm's continuing expansion into industries outside its core client base in construction and into related support services, as well as its presence in the Middle East.

"We have evolved from an equipment hire firm to become a leading business to business support services company within the UK construction sector and are now establishing ourselves as a provider of choice to major asset owners in industries like infrastructure, energy and facilities management.

"Steve's experience in some of these sectors both in marketing and at an operational level will make him a huge asset to the business," he enthused.

Commenting on his appointment, Steve McIntyre said: "I'm joining Speedy at a hugely significant stage in its development as it continues to grow its presence in new markets as a total supply chain partner."

Speedy operates from over 350 fixed sites - together with a number of on-site facilities at client locations throughout the UK, Ireland and the Middle East.
