The award-winning consumer home show, Grand Designs Live, has launched a new initiative entitled ‘Midlands Green Heroes’, a search to identify the very best eco innovations, home products and green building designs from the Midlands, to be unveiled at Grand Designs Live Birmingham from the 8th – 10th October 2010.
Pioneered by Kevin McCloud himself, who launched ‘Kevin’s Green Heroes’ in London earlier this year, Grand Designs Live Birmingham has opened up the search to showcase between 4 or 6 truly innovative eco ideas at this year’s show, celebrating the very best in eco design innovations, from the Midlands area.
The new venture comes as a wave of new technology, focused on efficient use of water, energy and waste reduction, is under development, and the building industry has seen accelerated growth in green building technologies.
Media 10, organisers of Grand Designs Live, are calling for product designers to submit innovative and inspirational product designs which can help solve environmental issues as well as having the potential to be incorporated into new and existing homes, offices and factories in order to reduce our impact on the environment and make a difference to our future and our home emissions.
Around 6 winning entries will be given the amazing opportunity to launch their products at Grand Designs Live Birmingham, this October offering exposure to over 42,000 visitors expected from a wide range of trade, industry and general public wide audience which will include experts from the build industry, architects, developers, celebrities and consumer public who are interested in saving energy (and money) and lowering their carbon footprints.
The Midlands Green Heroes feature will stand alongside ‘Kevin’s Green Heroes’ within the Design Arcade at the show, illustrated with visuals and storyboards explaining the benefits of each, their genesis and the people behind them. All will reflect Grand Designs Lives’ wider message of environmental friendliness and sustainability. Midland’s Green Heroes, in providing impetus to the eco build movement, aims to help the consumer save money in the long-run. Green buildings and products are highly energy efficient, using recycled, renewable and reused resources. In fact it is hoped that through identifying new and emerging products, Midlands’ Green Heroes may provide a trusted point of differentiation in a competitive market.
If you are interested in becoming a ‘Midlands Green Hero’ and you would like to put your product/ ideas forward for consideration, please email us where your entry will be considered for this year’s Grand Designs Live Birmingham 2010.
All entries must be sent by Friday 10th September 2010. Winning entries will be contacted by Media 10. Grand Designs Live is the UK’s No.1, award winning consumer show for design and inspiration for your home, and returns to Birmingham for the fifth year, and will take place from Friday 8th until Sunday 10th October 2010, at the NEC, Birmingham.
