Perils Of Playing On Building Sites Highlighted

Construction News Image
The perils of playing on building sites were highlighted to children and their parents at a special health and safety event organised by Lovell in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire.

The company, working in partnership with First Wessex Housing Association, is carrying out a major housing regeneration scheme which has seen 100 bungalows demolished in Somerset Crescent and Surrey Road. Twenty of the new properties will be occupied by residents who lived in the old bungalows, while the remainder will be available to those on the home choice register.

Site Manager John Simms said: "With the school holidays now under way, we are more conscious than ever of the dangers of children playing on building sites. We invited children along, with their parents if they wished, to watch a safety video which shows what can happen if children play on building sites, take part in competitions and receive safety advice. We had a very good turn-out and the children went away with a serious safety message ringing in their ears."
