Kanvas, the commercial interior design specialist of Willmott Dixon Group, has transformed the interior of one of the City's most respected insurance groups.
The business carried out a fast-track eight week project to give a fresh, new look to 14,000 square feet of office space for Barbican Insurance Group, based at No 1 Cornhill. It's the first time Barbican has commissioned a bespoke interior design of its offices and the project saw Kanvas transform the board room, workspace, reception area and meeting rooms.
Kanvas' in-house design also created a new dedicated broker lounge and conference facility. The look and feel of the interior matches Barbican's desire for a visually impressive office with smart, modern facilities for staff to work and for meetings.
During the project, Kanvas kept its eye on reducing waste to landfill by recycling the old carpet tiles, retaining the current ceilings and adapting the existing mechanical services. This fits in with Kanvas' target to achieve 20 per cent recycled content by value in all projects, rising to 30 per cent by 2012.
Gerry Graville, Managing Director of Kanvas, said: "This shows how you can create a visually impressive new office within a short period of time, with minimal disruption to staff and business. The office captures the vision, aspirations and brand image of Barbican.
"The look and feel of an office is such an important part of a company's reputation; we are pleased to have played a lead role in giving Barbican an office environment their staff will be proud to work in and clients will be impressed when visiting."
