Willmott Dixon's local construction office in Hitchin is investing in the future by taking on another five young trainees from the local area on its management trainee programme.
The five are gaining a mix of hands-on site experience alongside studying construction-related degrees which will equip them to become tomorrow’s leaders of the business. The latest trainee arrivals are Rory Allan from Potters Bar, Ryan Bennett from Haynes, Matthew Brown from Hailey, Kareem Elhihi from Hitchin and James Sutherland from Gerrards Cross.
In total, Willmott Dixon has over 80 management trainees across the UK in various stages of their study, and many in the past have gone on to become directors within the business, including Hitchin managing director Chris Tredget.
Chris explained: "Our aim is to continuously give career opportunities to bright young students in the local area. Each year we have a new intake of trainee managers who spend between three and five years gaining a degree, or if post-graduates, two years on our advanced course. Willmott Dixon combines theory with real practical experience in all aspects so trainees become very knowledgeable about the industry very early in their career."
Of the five new arrivals, Rory from Potters Bar is a graduate management trainee and will be working on site at the construction site of Mandeville School, St Albans.
Ryan from Bedford is studying a BSC in construction management and is currently on health & safety rotation covering numerous sites.
Matthew from Herts is a graduate management trainee and is working on site at the Bassingbourn Children's Centre, Cambridgeshire.
Kareem from Hitchin is another graduate management trainee and is currently working in the Hitchin office on projects in design stage, while James from Gerrards Cross is a graduate management trainee working on the Ark Academy in Wembley.
