Leyland Is Flying High

Construction News Image
Leading trade paint brand Leyland took to the skies recently as its Truguard Pliolite Based Masonry provided a winning makeover for a new multi-storey car park at one of the UK's largest airports.

Serving over nine million passengers annually, Birmingham International Airport is the fifth largest in the UK and needed to significantly extend its car parking capacity to meet increased demand.

C A Sandersons Decorators Ltd undertook a thorough investigation of possible products alongside project managers Norwest Holt with Leyland’s impressive Truguard Pliolite Based Masonry coming out on top.

Several thousand litres of Leyland Truguard Pliolite were used on the project ensuring that the new car park is protected from the elements and benefits from the BBA-accredited 15 year lifespan.

Leyland Brand Manager Nicki Hickman said: "Leyland Truguard Pliolite Based Masonry is specially formulated on durable Pliolite resin, providing excellent adhesion to concrete and is rain resistant within twenty minutes of application. The smooth, durable, matt finish also has the added benefit that it can be applied in temperatures as low as -5°C, enabling year-round application – a feature that proved particularly beneficial on this project as it ensured that work could continue throughout January’s turbulent weather."

Tim Sanderson, Director of C A Sandersons Decorators Ltd praised Leyland's products and admits he would have no hesitation in using them again for such a large scale project. He said: "Leyland came up trumps with a product that perfectly fitted the requirements for the project and at a competitive price to boot. Leyland's Truguard Pliolite Based Masonry was found to outperform other products on the market in terms of quality and price and the long-term benefits it offers in addition to the ease of application and robust nature of it – key to high traffic areas such as this – made it ideally suited for such a challenging contract."
