£50m Surrey Regeneration Scheme Gets Green Light
Plans to build more than 300 new homes, a community centre and accommodation for older people as part of the £50 million Stanwell New Start regeneration scheme in Surrey have been given the go-ahead.
A2Dominion was granted outline planning permission by Spelthorne Borough Council for the next three phases of the project which will involve demolishing a total of 152 existing homes on the estate.
The planned 304 new homes for phases two, three and four of the regeneration scheme include 260 one, two and three-bedroom properties for affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale.
There will be an Extra Care scheme providing 44 units of accommodation for older people in Stanwell with a range of care and support needs. It will come complete with a restaurant, hairdressers and activity room.
A new community centre, parking and landscaped open public space are also included in the plans.
David Price, A2Dominion's Director of Regeneration, said: "We are delighted to have been granted outline planning permission for the next phases of the Stanwell New Start regeneration project.
"We are aiming to get our detailed planning application for phase two in before the end of this year, with building work to start in spring 2011.
"Our recent regeneration and community work in Stanwell earned us high praise at both the What We Are Proud Of and Housebuilder Awards 2010. We are excited about continuing to build upon this success."
The first phase of the Stanwell New Start scheme, to build 52 new homes in the Long Lane area, got under way in February 2010 and is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
