Olympic Park Wins New H&S Milestone

Construction News Image
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has now achieved fifteen sets of a million working hours without a reportable incident since the ODA gained possession of the Olympic Park in 2007.

The ODA has reinforced its commitment to health and safety, as the construction project enters the tough winter months

ODA Head of Health and Safety Lawrence Waterman said: "This is one of the largest and most challenging construction sites in Europe. With the hard work of the contractors on the Olympic Park, we have succeeded making this project one of the safest in the UK and raising the bar for the industry. This milestone is a tribute to the professionalism of the entire workforce.

"But we are not complacent and the toughest months are still ahead of us. Work on the site is now at its peak and safety will continue to be our first priority as we enter the winter months and working conditions get tougher with colder weather and reduced light."

The ODA maintains a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of the 10,000 workers on the Olympic Park and Athletes' Village. The two on-site medical centres – Park Health and Village Health – offer medical services including health assessments, screening, treatment for minor injuries, as well as providing wider healthcare advice and education.
