Work Resume On New House Build
New contractors have resumed work on the construction of 12 affordable homes which was halted after the collapse of Rok.
Mansell Partnership Homes SW has taken over the contract to build the houses in Lawrence Weston it has been announced after agreement was reached between the company, Bristol City Council and Rok's administrators, PWC.
Councillor Anthony Negus, Cabinet Member for Strategic Housing and Regeneration, said: "I am very pleased that agreement has now been reached and the construction of 12 new affordable homes for the city can continue.
"Council officers have been working very hard behind the scenes over the last few weeks with the administrators and a number of companies to resolve this situation and get work back on track as quickly as possible. The fact that we have been able to save the vast majority of jobs which were threatened is a great result."
Work on the new homes stopped midway through last month after Rok, which had been awarded the contract by the city council, went into administration.
The council was awarded £775,560 by the Homes and Communities Agency to build the new council houses, an award which it will match fund.
The work is expected to be completed in the summer of 2011.
