E.ON Helping Small Businesses To Keep On Top Of Energy Bills

E.ON has announced plans to trial a new Smart Pay As You Go (PAYG) offering for Small to Medium Enterprises (SME), making it one of the first energy companies to offer this service.

The new Smart PAYG offering has been developed with Secure Meters (UK) Limited to help business customers manage cash flow and reduce the risk of debt.

With the ability to monitor energy usage daily, customers will not only be able to predict their energy consumption but also budget and control it.

Arslan Sharif, Head of Propositions and E-commerce at E.ON said: "We understand that times are difficult for some of our customers which is why we are constantly looking at ways to improve the products and services that we offer. This is the main reason behind the trial and why it will be interesting to see our customers' feedback on it."

The Smart PAYG offering will see an end to estimated bills as well as the unexpected ones, giving businesses more control over their outgoings. Consumption can also be viewed by the meter's digital display and credit can be applied remotely via cheque, direct debit, or debit/credit card, making the process as easy and as simple as possible.

Arslan said: "PAYG may not be right for every customer, but for many it can help to manage energy costs and cash flow within a business. With the ability to pay for their energy as they use it, rather than a monthly/quarterly energy bill, PAYG could be an ideal solution for some businesses."

The trial begins in early 2011, with eligible customers to be contacted from February 2011.
