Flooring Experts Roll Out Stimulating Office Environment

Bristol flooring specialists Rudge Brothers and James has completed a radical makeover at the showroom headquarters of Somerset-based Office Reality.

The design brief for the company's new HQ in Wellington called for a bright and funky finish to create a unique and stimulating environment underpinning the firm's progression from an on-line supplier of office furniture to a fully fledged space planning and office fit out contractor with its own high-visibility showroom.

Rudge Brothers and James Managing Director Jim Heal said: "It was a very exciting brief from Office Reality for its new showroom and office. But at the same time the flooring had to be cost-effective, functional and professional as well as an uplifting environment to work in. It also had to be a real showpiece for clients to view. We saw the potential to do something interesting with the flooring to make this an exciting, vibrant workplace."

Rudge Brothers and James had carried out an assortment of smaller projects on behalf of Office Reality before they earned the chance to come up with an eye-catching scheme for the firm’s new headquarters.

Desso Neo carpet tiles were specified in a bright blue and purple with a charcoal background and a plain grey matching border. As well as the aesthetic considerations, Neo satisfied the client’s practical demands, providing a hard wearing, low maintenance floor covering with excellent acoustic properties, essential for any busy commercial space.

Jim Heal said: "Another requirement was for the flooring to be bold. Neo with its bright colour lines against a plain dark setting gives the tile a vivid face and daring character, whilst the design suggests dramatic movement."

Paul Seddon from Office Reality commented: "I was looking for something different, I wanted a bright and funky finish, but also needed a functional carpet tile which achieved both the practical and aesthetic brief."
