Goodridge Engineering Covermate Manhole Lifting Machine
Heavy duty manhole covers frequently remain undisturbed for long periods, embedded into their seatings by heavy traffic. Corrosion of the cover and the frame further increases the grip.
Maintenance personnel often encounter problems lifting the covers and frequently have to remove the whole frame and cover by using large hammers and/or pneumatic drills. The total cost of removal and replacement frequently exceeds the cost a Covermate lifter.
The Covermate allows direct vertical pull by a single person operation with up to a 3 tonne Safe Working Load, plus 30% overload. The cover is wheeled backwards away from the manhole with ease and complete safety. Maximum rolling load is 1 tonne. Benefits - One person can remove seized heavy duty manhole covers. - Gives smooth strong vertical pull - Can be quickly dismantled for carrying to site in car boot or van - Simple operation - Maximum rolling load of 1 tonne - Safety certificate to 25% overload available - Set of welded steel keys to fit all Imperial and Metric manhole covers - Major benefit to safety at work reducing risk to back injury from lifting as recommended by all Area Health and Safety Executives.
A major utility has ordered 8 rough terrain model 102 Covermate manual lifters. Their machines have been specially adapted to fit in their fleet of combi vans.
