Great Haddon Plans To Be Discussed By Planning Committee
Revised plans for the Great Haddon employment area will be discussed by Peterborough City Council's planning and environmental protection committee on Tuesday 24 May 2011.
The planning application for the development was revised and re-submitted to Peterborough City Council by the Great Haddon Consortium and Roxhill (Peterborough) Developments earlier this year to take into account stakeholder views. As a result of this a second round of consultation ran in February and March.
The council's planning and environmental protection committee will be asked to determine the application, which has been recommended for approval by planning officers, subject to a number of conditions.
The development site is located next to the A1(M) and the Fletton parkway and borders the Alwalton Hill scheme which was granted planning consent in October 2009.
The Great Haddon site is allocated for development in the council's Core Strategy.
Roxhill (Peterborough) Developments acquired the land, along with the Alwalton Hill site, in December 2010. The development has the potential to create up to 8,500 new jobs.
The council is still in negotiation on the planning application for the core area which includes 5,350 homes, a district and two neighbourhood centres with a mix of retail, commercial, community and health facilities, three primary schools and one secondary school, open space and associated infrastructure. This will reported to a future meeting of the planning and environmental protection committee. No date has yet been set.
