A fund-raising Red and Blue Day at Liverpool-based PVC-U and aluminium window and door fabricator Total Glass has generated well over £1,300 for the company’s chosen local charity, the Walton Neuroscience Fund.
The cash will go towards improvements in areas such as neurological research, staff training and patient welfare at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Trust.
Paul Ierston, Total's late Managing Director, was receiving treatment at the centre before he lost his two and half year battle with cancer at the end of March.
The Red and Blue event was organised by Systems Manager Michaela Ogilvie and Office Manager Jeanette Harrison who joined colleagues wearing red and blue-themed fancy dress to reflect their local football team colours.
Lifelong Liverpool FC supporter Total Group Managing Director Frank Deary sported
a blue Everton shirt as his charity 'penance', with Operations Manager and keen Evertonian fan David Ogilvie doing likewise in red.
"Blue was quite difficult to wear as I'd given the team so much stick over the years," quipped Frank. "We called a truce in football for charity and everyone enjoyed a great fun day. The whole team made a tremendous effort for a very worthwhile local cause whose excellent work is close to our hearts."
