Steelwork Contractors Establish BS2 Ltd
Bourne Steel and Billington Structures, two of the largest specialist steelwork contractors in the UK, can reveal the formation of BS2 Ltd, a new Joint Venture company aimed at supporting major steelwork projects throughout the UK.
In conjunction with this announcement, BS2 can also reveal that Tom Goldberg MBE, a well-respected figure in the steelwork industry, has been appointed as Non-Executive Chairman.
BS2's primary objective will be to act as a new option for clients in the High Rise market and for other major building projects. Together the company has over 125-years of construction experience, enhancing the capabilities of both partners. The move has been welcomed by developers along with their designers and contractors, who see it as a noteworthy player in a market which is expected to thrive over the next decade.
Mr Goldberg boasts vast experience and knowledge in growing company revenues and taking on large projects. In addition to his track-record in commercial buildings, his experience also takes in Offshore Platforms and Steelworks development, Retail Parks and Stadiums. Educated to degree level at Oxford University, Mr Goldberg has also overseen major UK commercial projects such as Broadgate, London Bridge City and Canary Wharf. He has been the President of the British Constructional Steelwork Association and has sat on a number of government construction bodies such as CIPER and the Construction Act Advisory Board.
In recent years, he has built his own international steelwork group in China, Germany, Poland and Ukraine, and he has been Chairman of Yorks & Humber International Trade Board. In 2009 his passion and drive for the industry was rewarded when he was given an MBE for his services to international trade.
Tom Goldberg MBE commented: "I am honoured and privileged to be appointed Non-Executive Chairman of such an exciting venture between these two well-established companies. As an industry we need to continually invest in new improvements so we are prepared against the global threats that surround us. Clients demand value for money from their construction partners, and with the combined engineering, fabrication and construction capabilities of Bourne and Billington, BS2 offers these skills combined with a new collaborative approach."
