One of the UK's leading provider of equipment rental and support services, Speedy Hire, has invested in a fleet of low carbon Ford ECOnetic vehicles as part of its sustainability strategy, One Plan.
With improved fuel economy that will contribute to Speedy's aim of lowering the carbon footprint of the business, the purchase of the 19 vehicles is part of a suite of changes that falls under One Plan, which will see the company implement sustainable practices internally, and shift to working with suppliers with proven low-carbon credentials.
Based on an average distance of 26,000 miles per year, it is estimated that each ECOnetic vehicle will save 2.1 tonnes of Carbon per annum.
Speedy's Transport and Logistics Director, Ian Leonard: "We have set an ambitious target for the reduction of the company’s carbon footprint, and we believe that the purchase of these 19 Transit ECOnetic Vehicles is an important step towards achieving our aims.
"The maintenance engineers who will be using these vehicles clock up lots of hours as they travel across the country supporting our customers' needs. The purchase of these vehicles means that the impact these journeys have on the environment is minimised."
Nick Halliday, Ford's regional fleet manager for the north, said: "Speedy Hire is one of many corporations looking to help meet its environmental targets by the adoption of the latest technology from Ford. I am sure that Speedy will find the Transit ECOnetic a major advantage in its quest."
