Joining Forces For Business Success
Developers of a new multi-million pound Sports and Learning Community project in Telford are backing a campaign to help create the business entrepreneurs of the future.
Kier Moss is redeveloping the existing Abraham Darby Academy and Woodlands Primary School in Madeley, and the company is now planning to back the Start Up Shropshire project.
Part of the Start Up Britain campaign, the Shropshire scheme will help young people who want to start their own business by offering support and advice from local companies and experts.
Kier Moss Framework Manager, Richard Collin, said: "We're creating modern hi-tech educational and community facilities in Madeley, but it’s not just about the buildings – we're also committed to supporting local young people and helping them develop their skills.
"We already work with local students to assist them with their studies in a wide range of subject areas, with many of our experts sharing their knowledge in workshop sessions on site and at neighbouring schools.
"By backing the Start Up Shropshire campaign, we can go one step further and help even more budding entrepreneurs to get their business ideas up and running.
"We'll be providing mentors, and also administration and design support for the overall project, as well as sponsoring a series of workshops at a summer school at Enterprise HQ in Coalport.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to be part of an initiative that has the potential to improve the future prospects of aspiring young people, and to help build a campaign that will play a key role in the success and prosperity of the wider region."
Kier Moss has also signed up to play the Start Up Shropshire Lottery – a fund-raising lottery-style game to generate cash for training courses, websites, networks, and co-working space for would-be business people.
