Cable Detection Boosts Highway Safety
A specialist firm has teamed up with Staffordshire County Council's highway term maintenance contractor Enterprise to increase site safety.
Cable Detection Ltd is working in partnership with the road maintenance experts at Enterprise and the Council to further demonstrate their commitment to on site health and safety by taking on the task of servicing and calibrating their extensive fleet of cable avoidance tools.
The highways enormously complex operations include the responsibility for maintaining over 6,000km of carriageway and over 1,000 bridges.
With an extensive network of pipes, cables, and ducts under the highways, correct usage and maintenance of safety equipment is essential to the success of their operations.
Staffordshire's highway teams are involved in road construction and maintenance and the efficient use of cable avoidance tools forms an integral part of their system of identifying services and providing safe methods of working.
Cable Detection's customised service procedure for Staffordshire's equipment includes a guaranteed four-day turn around for all repair procedures; something Enterprise's Resource Manager, Chris Ballance was particularly impressed with: "We have an open and honest working relationship with Cable Detection's servicing team.
"The staff accommodate our stringent safety, quality and value for money demands and ensure a swift turnaround whilst remaining friendly, helpful and accessible."
Robert Wright, Service Manager at Cable Detection commented: "We are extremely pleased we could assist Staffordshire's highway teams with their vitally important work of improving and maintaining our County's infrastructure.
"Any work they carry out is critically assessed by highway safety inspectors to ensure safe working conditions.
"Their fleet of Cable Avoidance Tools needed to be in top condition and we are delighted that our service procedure met their high expectations," he concluded.
