Hydrotech Chosen For Award-Winning Park Inn
Hydrotech MM6125 Structural Waterproofing from Alumasc has been chosen for Aberdeen’s latest commercial landmark.
Designed by Richard Murphy Architects, the new Park Inn and adjoining iQ office complex is a £75 million mixed-use development, situated on the south side of Justice Mill Lane. The 185 bedroom hotel represents the 100th Park Inn to be opened by the Rezidor Group, with the iQ office building offering over 11,600m2 of Aberdeen's most innovative office space. The complex has received both the 'Best Commercial Building Award' and the 'Commendation for a Hotel Leisure Building' from the Aberdeen Association of Architects.
Alumasc's approved installer BriggsAmasco installed a total of 5000m2 of Hydrotech MM6125 which was specified by Richard Murphy Architects for the building’s impressive multi-level terraced roof. The roof incorporates outdoor space, balconies and high-level stepped terracing accessible from the hotel, in addition to a flat roof area housing large quantities of roof-top plant.
On the iQ building, Hydrotech was installed to protect the exposed areas between the glazing units on the stunning 4 storey panoramic atrium.
Hydrotech is a durable, self-healing monolithic waterproofing membrane, which was the first hot-melt waterproofing system to be introduced to the UK construction market. The system boasts a respected performance record spanning 50 years, for use on protected roofs, plaza decks, green roofs, water features or access roadways. Its high performance bituminous rubber blend allows fast and simple installation even over complex roof details.
The main contractor at the development was Miller Construction.
