SummitSkills has been shortlisted for the prestigious RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2011. The sector skills council for the building services engineering (BSE) sector has been selected for the Training Initiative of the Year Award for leading the new Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3 in Carbon Dioxide Refrigeration qualification. The course content encompasses specific properties of carbon dioxide safety, design, installation and maintenance.
The awards highlight the successes and innovations driving the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and SummitSkills are delighted to be shortlisted and to gain industry recognition for their work on the new QCF qualification. Development Manager, Michael Reeves worked with major employers in the sector, such as Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer and Tesco, along with representatives of industry trade bodies to ensure a new, high quality qualification was put in place.
SummitSkills' Chief Executive Keith Marshall OBE remarked: "I am thrilled to learn we have been shortlisted for the Training Initiative of the Year award, against such a strong set of entrants. Training and skills are at the heart of what we do at SummitSkills and we endeavor to improve quality and access to the best training across the BSE sector.
In the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, the correct training at the right levels is crucial, to ensure equipment is installed and maintained correctly to function at the optimum levels, and to ensure the highest levels of health and safety are observed."
Michael Reeves will also be acting as a judge for the award for National Student of the Year. This award recognises exceptional engineers in the industry who are currently working in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) field and have made a significant contribution to their sector while still in training.
The 8th annual RAC awards, organised by RAC magazine, will be held on 28 September 2011 at the Park Lane Hilton, London.
