Plans for the regeneration of Glocuester's Greyfriars quarter have been revised by Linden Homes in response to the consultation on its proposal with local residents and organisations.
The announcement comes as demolition work starts on the 'eyesore' tower block on the former Gloscat site.
A revised planning application submitted to Gloucester City Council contains proposals for 254 homes as part of an exemplar housing-led scheme in the heart of the city centre. The design of the three villas at the front of the site has been revised so that the proportions of the buildings are in keeping with the surrounding classical architecture of Gloucester. The plans for the medical and community centres have also been amended to fit with the existing street scene.
The proposals for regeneration of the former Gloscat and Media Centre sites off Brunswick Road also include a cafe, offices, GP surgery and a community facility. The project is a collaboration between Linden Homes, Gloucester City Council, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company (GHURC).
Rob Winstone of Linden Homes said: "The feedback we received for the overall design of the site was positive but we have taken on board comments about the details of the buildings. The three villas have been redesigned, as has the Health Centre building. We have also overhauled the landscaping to deliver enhanced green open space with granite stonework features."
