Mouchel Launches New Carbon Management Centre Of Excellence

Infrastructure and business services group, Mouchel, in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council, launched its new Carbon Management Centre of Excellence (CMCoE) on 20 October at Bournemouth University's Executive Business Centre.

Mouchel is working with its transformation partner, Bournemouth Borough Council, to tackle climate change, and at the same time generate local jobs, through the introduction of a new low carbon and renewable energy technology centre, the CMCoE. The centre includes a virtual team that is helping to source, fund and introduce cost-effective technology into the UK to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

More than 40 delegates from across the public and private sector attended the event that focused on the technical and commercial challenges faced by organisations as they seek to implement measures needed to reduce carbon emissions.

Part of the CMCoE will be a new service called CRedIT (Carbon Reduction Innovation Team) which works with organisations to reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs by providing access to best-in-class technology for carbon emissions reduction. Mouchel will independently verify technology suppliers' operational and performance data.

Councillor Robert Lawton, Cabinet Member for Housing & Environment at Bournemouth Borough Council, said: "As a Council we're extremely excited over the Carbon Management Centre of Excellence. It will help raise the area's profile as a national leader on low carbon and it is an excellent opportunity for the private and public sector to share ideas.

"It was fascinating to hear the technical and commercial challenges that organisations anticipate facing in the future as they attempt to implement measures needed to reduce carbon emissions. The environment here in Bournemouth is key to the town's prosperity and this is one of the main reasons we are working with the Centre to pioneer the use of new technology to help deliver a low carbon-based future."
