Sainsbury's Announced For Blackpool Centre
Muse in partnership with Blackpool Council have announced that Sainsbury’s is the selected foodstore operator for the transformational £220 million Central Business District scheme (CBD) in Blackpool town centre.
Muse and Sainsbury's are submitting a joint full application for a 60,000 square feet store with 600 car parking spaces positioned above the store over two levels.
The store will employ 400 people with 70% of the posts being full time positions.
Muse selected architects Leach Rhodes Walker to design the striking building. The brief was to create a high quality statement building that would complement the other buildings within the scheme including the new Council offices.
Mike Horner, Regional Director for Muse, commented: "We are delighted to be bringing Sainsbury’s to Blackpool in what will be a fantastic new store. The store will bring lots of new shoppers to the town centre and will help give it a massive boost."
The main foodstore façade - a sweeping glass design - faces onto Talbot Road creating a strong visible prominence from the station and new public square.
Mr Horner continued: "A full application is being submitted this week and if planning consent is granted in the new year we hope to be on site by next summer."
