Cemplas Provide A Floor Finish For Royal Mail Sorting Office

Construction News Image
During the refurbishment of the Royal Mail East Moseley sorting office by Vinci Construction, the flooring division of Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd were called upon to advise on providing a floor finish which would be suitable for a fully functional post office sorting room from what was the original internal car park floor.

Following a survey Cemplas were contracted to undertake the work which began by firstly removing the existing 25mm of the old car parks tarmac from the substrate and mechanically preparing the surface.

Cemplas also capped the existing storm drains, installed footings for the new block work which was followed by pumping a Sika Polymer screed laid at 100mm and fully bonded to the substrate with a Polymer/Cement slurry to an area of approximately 330m2.

Due to the tight program Cemplas also installed a 2mm Sikafloor 81 Epocem coating to act as a DPM.

For the final finish Cemplas installed Sikafloor 263 SL, a 2-part epoxy self-smoothing, self coloured all purpose resin to provide a surface which is suitable for normal up to medium heavy wear and provides a decorative finish which is easily cleaned. The same system was also applied by Cemplas to the loading bays incorporating a broadcast Quartz sand to create a non-slip safe surface.

On completion of the new floor surface, and after a full curing period the main floor was handed over to the main contractor who began the fitting out process.

Cemplas were formed in 1969 and have been providing reliable and cost-effective solutions across a broad range of new repair and refurbishment contracts with the capacity and resources to undertake projects in excess of £1m in-house; together with a management structure capable of running multi-disciplined projects incorporating a wide variety of trade activities.
