Our recently completed project to supply a two-storey family assessment centre at Browning House in Leeds was formally opened by HRH the Princess Royal on Monday 2nd April 2012.
Named the Browning House Jubilee Building in recognition of their 60th year anniversary, the occasion also coincides with MPH’s own 40th birthday celebrations. Established in 1972, we have extensive experience in providing modular buildings to all sectors of government and commerce throughout the UK.
Working within the confines of an inaccessible site, at Browning House the advantages of
modular building over traditional construction methods were brought into sharp focus. Utilising flexible modular build systems, projects can be undertaken on designated sites where traditional build techniques are unfeasible. Our fast-track off-site manufacturing processes enabled both the brick wall cladding and pitched roof to be factory fitted prior to delivery, controlling costs and minimising disruption on site. Furthermore by drastically reducing the extent of the site works required both the speed and safety of the construction enabling works was greatly improved, alongside security and access issues posed by the sensitive nature of the organisation.
Designed by our in-house team, the bespoke design included a family play room, kitchen, sleep room, offices, meeting and training rooms. Located within a conservation area, architectural features including a dual hipped pitched roof and facing brick finish were incorporated into the design to dovetail with the surrounding environment and satisfy the stringent requirements of the Local Authority Planning Office.
Running concurrently with the manufacturing process the groundworks commenced on site with a two week programme to include the foundation sub-structure, drainage works and tree protection measures.
In a challenging contract lift the 355 square metre portable building was craned in two stages and positioned onto foundation bases. To enable installation a boundary wall was dismantled and later reinstated. A full traffic management plan was implemented to facilitate delivery of the building and two 100 tonne cranes were used to install the modules.
Will Menzies, Browning House Finance & Administration Manager, commented: "We decided to contract MPH Building Systems for our modular building project for a number of reasons. We saw their excellent work they carried out for a local college and the straight talking and honest initial discussions were refreshing in an industry that is prone to half promises.
"I cannot fault the design, planning, construction, delivery or the final product. We had regular contact with MPH staff and they gave us confidence at every step of the capital project.
"The project was delivered on time and within our budgets. We are extremely happy with the turnkey solution that MPH have provided.
"I have no hesitation in recommending MPH for your future building requirements. They are a pleasure to work with."
