The number of remodelling projects for kitchens and bathrooms has increased over the years, according to a recent study.
A survey by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) revealed that kitchen and bathroom improvements have risen by 17% in the past two years and the popularity of upgrading the rooms and making major repairs has soared due to the fact that the majority of homeowners are staying in their homes longer.
Findings show that almost 50% of tradespeople in the industry report an increase in the number of homeowners undertaking renovations instead of moving property and 69% cite kitchen modifications. However, according to the experts there has been a decrease in the number of consumers who are transforming the home to add value to the property as an investment.
Further makeover projects which have proved common consist of window/door replacements (44%); whole house remodels (35%); room additions (33%); and handyman services (31%). All of these results are great news for professionals working in the trade industry.
George Moore Jr, chairman of NAHB Remodelers, said: “Home owners are repurposing spaces and making more efficient use of their home’s square footage. Whether it is young families or couples aging in their homes, people want to let their house adapt with their needs as they change over time.”
The kitchen is the heart of the home and is a major living space which is used the most often. The property market is stagnant at present and many Britons are struggling to move on up the property ladder so modernising the room is an ideal concept.
It doesn’t have to cost a fortune to renovate the space; add a splash of paint, update the cupboard handles and brighten up the décor with new kitchen appliances. And make sure that you invest in quality designer cooker hoods with the experts.
Best Hoods specialise in innovative cooker hoods that are energy efficient, quiet, attractive and have unique features. If you plan on refurbishing your kitchen this year, visit the site today for the latest in extractor design and technology.
