Sod Cutting Ceremony For Construction Of School To Take Place

A sod cutting ceremony to mark the start of building work on the new Hampton Primary School and Community Facilities will take place on Monday 11 June 2012 at 12pm.

Residents are invited to attend the cutting of the sod for the soon to be, third primary school in Hampton and long awaited community facilities. Councillor John Holdich, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and University and representatives from Peterborough City Council, Vivacity, Hampton College, O&H Hampton and Kier Construction will be attending to signal the start of work on the new school and community facilities.

The new facilities are being built on land adjacent to Hampton College, Clayburn Road. This will increase the number of primary school places available in the expanding community, provide changing and club room facilities for the playing fields and new sports and library facilities for the community.

Kier Construction was appointed in April 2012 to construct the new school and community facilities. The building is expected to be complete and open by Autumn 2013.

While the school building will open in 2013, the school will officially open this September with an intake of two reception classes. These will temporarily be hosted at Hampton Hargate Primary School, and run by Hampton College, from September 2012.
