Kier Partnership Homes has qualified top of class on the Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT) Developer Partner Framework, which has been established to deliver new build housing worth £1bn over the next three to four years.
The framework is split into three separate lots reflecting a specific housing tenure, and each lot is split into sub-lots representing a maximum number of units to be delivered.
Kier secured a place on every lot and sub-lot.
Commenting on the news, Kier Partnership Homes managing director, Chris King, stated: "We are delighted to have been selected by BMHT to become a framework partner for the next four years. We have built a strong and continuing working relationship with BMHT and are already building mixed tenure developments with them across the city.
"I believe our innovate approach to delivery and the provision of flexible funding solutions helped elevate us above the competition during the evaluation process."
BMHT remain committed to the provision of 500 new affordable homes per year with or without the need for grant funding and they intend to use the framework to meet this aspiration. Mini tenders through the framework have already resulted in the award to Kier of 104 dwellings from the first tranche of 250 affordable homes contracted and these will include new housing for sale as well as houses to rent.
Work on the identified sites will begin as soon as planning is in place and, despite a continuing challenging housing market, Birmingham City Council is determined to bring forward the opportunity to build new housing for young families and others who need an affordable and high quality home.
