Teenager Homes In On Work Experience With Lovell
Laura Nye, a Year 10 student from Broadlands School, Keynsham, has gained valuable insight into the housebuilding industry through a work experience placement with Lovell.
During her week with Lovell, which has regional offices in Bristol and Cardiff, the 15-year-old shadowed members of staff from the company’s business development, sales and construction teams.
Visiting the company’s affordable, open market and housing regeneration projects in the South West and Wales gave the teenager a first-hand view of the construction process and the different job roles involved. Laura lives in Keynsham where Lovell has been working on a major housing redevelopment programme for Somer Community Housing Trust, involving the rebuilding of pre-cast reinforced concrete homes in Keynsham and Bath. As part of her placement, Laura visited a new-build housing development by Lovell – which was recently awarded a top five-star rating for the third year running by customers in the HBF (Home Builders Federation) national Customer Satisfaction Survey – and compiled a report on the interior design of the show houses at the scheme.
Laura said: “During my week of work experience with Lovell, I was made very welcome by everyone who I met and felt part of the team. I was shown many of the processes involved with building houses and it has given me a much greater understanding of the industry.”
