Lovell Unveils Low-Carbon Repairs
Lovell has taken delivery of a new fleet of fuel-efficient, low-carbon vehicles to support growing demand for the company’s repairs and maintenance business.
Lovell calculates that the 232 new Ford vans – the majority from Ford's fuel-efficient ECOnetic range – will cut monthly carbon emissions by around ten per cent compared with the vehicles they replace. That means an annual saving of 367 metric tonnes of carbon – the equivalent of the average annual carbon footprint of around 30 people in the UK.
Sporting distinctive Lovell-branded livery, the diesel-powered vans will be used by the repairs and maintenance team to carry out planned repair and refurbishment work and responsive repairs for its extensive portfolio of clients across England, Scotland and Wales. Eighty per cent of the new fleet has been supplied by fleet management specialist Alphabet on a three-year contract lease with the remainder supplied on a flexi-hire basis. Maintenance will be by leading fleet management provider Fleet Technique.
"Modern, reliable, fuel-efficient vehicles are essential to ensure that our clients across England, Scotland and Wales continue to receive an effective, high-quality service," said Simon Medler, managing director of the Lovell repairs and maintenance business. "The repairs and maintenance business has grown significantly over the past two years and the new fleet will play a vital part in supporting our continued expansion.
"Equally importantly, the new vehicles will deliver environmental improvements by cutting our carbon footprint.” Each vehicle will be fitted with speed limiters to improve fuel efficiency and Masternaut vehicle tracking to encourage safe and economical driving habits.
Lovell's repairs and maintenance team looks after more than 200,000 domestic and commercial properties across the UK. Services provided include day-to-day responsive repairs, void property refurbishments, programmed maintenance, and electrical and gas installations, servicing and repairs. The team has carried out over 311,000 repairs or service related visits in the last 12 months.
