ISG Awarded Contract To Complete Council's Office Scheme

ISG has been awarded the £1.9 million fit out contract to complete Wakefield Council’s recently built office scheme, Wakefield One.

Located in the Merchant Gate development in Wakefield, the new five-storey building will see Wakefield Metropolitan District Council bring together a number of departments in a single location, enabling the disposal or redevelopment of several property assets. Wakefield One will accommodate 1,200 council workers providing offices, information points and reception areas for council departments as well as a museum/library space on the lower ground floor.

Due to be completed in June, the fast-track project sees ISG carry out an extensive mechanical and electrical fit out with most of the services located in the floor voids. This installation includes provision of power and data supplies to individual work stations within the building. While the office areas will be largely open plan in configuration, the fit out scheme also includes construction of partition walls to create a number of individual offices and meeting rooms.

ISG's John Gittins, managing director - North East, commented: "This is a hugely significant project for Wakefield Council in terms of enhancing operational efficiencies and delivering best value and service to the local community. Securing the final phase of this important regional scheme is a major coup for ISG and is further recognition of our fast-track fit out capabilities."
