Building Firm To Take On 58 New Paid Apprentices
A UK construction giant has announced plans to take on a further 58 paid apprentices this year.
Carillion plc who take on over 1,000 apprentices annually is offering placements to out of work youngsters keen to learn a new trade in construction. The firm, behind Southampton newest secondary schools has announced they currently have thirteen vacancies still to fill on their three-year apprenticeship schemes in bricklaying and carpentry, with a further 45 apprenticeships available to start in November.
Despite Government initiatives to promote apprenticeships, training bosses have expressed alarm at a decline in the number of applicants in recent years, outlining the need to come up with ever more inventive schemes to reach out for new recruits.
The Apprenticeships leading to NVQ and Diploma qualifications will see attendees paid allowances of around £50 a week for the first 14 weeks before moving to training wages between £105 to £220 a week, depending on age, when placed on work sites.
Carillion believes around seven out of ten of its apprentices go into permanent jobs, and are given ongoing help to find work.
Visit Carillion plc for more information on how to apply.
