Lumin plywood from international forest products company, Weyerhaeuser, has been installed as roof cladding at a new warehousing facility in Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes. Supplied by the local Jewson branch, Lumin was specified based on its CE2+ and PEFC certifications and the ability of Lumin distributor, International Timber, to deliver the product to site against extremely tight timescales.
Supplied in a choice of eucalyptus or pine faced plywood and six different grades, at Hanslope Park eucalyptus faced Lumin in 18mm thickness was used in a CDX grade. The initial phase, which required a total of 2,000m2 of Lumin and equated to 660 sheets, was delivered to site over a two week period as required by the contractor.
Ken Russell, Assistant Branch Manager, Jewson Milton Keynes, explained: "Lumin is a relatively new product for us, but we were extremely impressed with its availability and the fact the product is underpinned by such sound structural and environmental credentials."
Having added Lumin to its plywood offering earlier this year, International Timber has experienced high demand from its customers nationwide. Frank Duff, International Timber, commented: "The challenge remains in the market not only to be able to supply fully certified products but also enable our customers to compete on price. Lumin appeared to fit these criteria on paper but now we are seeing the first orders coming through – it is proving that it really does."
Produced using trees from responsibly managed plantations, Lumin plywood is manufactured at Weyerhaeuser's state-of-the-art mill in Uruguay, which operates with ISO 14001 certification and PEFC Chain of Custody. With CE2+ certification and a broad span of grades, Lumin is suited to most applications, particularly residential structural and non-structural requirements, concrete forming, furniture, cabinet, millwork and flooring.
