Pupils at a new free school in Enfield were able to start the new term in comfort thanks to Kier.

Kier Construction handed over temporary accommodation to Enfield Heights Academy, marking the start of the 2012 academic year and the construction of a new free school.

The Academy is one of the 55 new free schools opening this September. Free schools can be set up by groups of parents, teachers, charities, businesses, universities, trusts, employers and religious or voluntary groups in response to local demand.


Procured through the Academies Framework, the project is part of a larger batch commission from CfBT Education Trust, which also includes Oxford Spires Academy and Rimon Jewish Primary School in Golders Green.

The new primary school building, which currently has just 25 pupils but has been designed to eventually cater for up to 175, will be completed by September 2013.
