Network Rail Invites Crossrail Tenders
Network Rail has advertised the position to tender for the design and construction of new stations on the Crossrail route.
The company is inviting applicants to work on 13 new stations on the western section from Acton Main Line to Maidenhead.
The suppliers which have been invited to tender are Kier, Costain, Vinci, Balfour Beatty and Skanska.
Network has announced new buildings are required at Acton Main Line, Southall, West Ealing and Hayes & Harlington.
The development also includes a renovation at Ealing Broadway, which will encompass a ticket hall, footbridge, new lifts and pedestrianised forecourt.
Lifts and platform extensions are also to be installed at West Drayton station, while Maidenhead station will be fitted with new lifts, platform and platform extensions.
Platform extensions are also required at Langley, Burnham, Slough and Iver, while architectural work including new signage will be undertaken at Taplow and Hanwell.
The work is split into an inner section and an outer section and applicants are invited to apply for either contract, or both. The contracts will be awarded in spring 2013.
When it opens in 2018, Crossrail will provide ten trains per hour on the Great Western main line. This will include four trains per hour to Maidenhead and Heathrow and two to West Drayton.
Jorge Mendonca, Crossrail programme director, Network Rail, said: "Network Rail is transforming the railway to make Crossrail a success for the passengers who will use the service and the economic future of this region. We have developed our designs for the stations on the Western section, in order to provide better services for users and provide access to the communities served by the Crossrail route."
