Leading independent timber importer and distributor James Latham, has become one of only two preferred suppliers of non-core sheet materials to national builders’ merchant, Travis Perkins.
With over 600 branches nationwide, Travis Perkins is one of the UK's biggest suppliers to the building and construction industry and the move has cemented twelve months of negotiations.
James Latham has also been working with Travis Perkins to develop an added value, mandated sheet material range which will be stocked at twenty one of their UK-wide branches. James Latham will supply eleven of these branches with another distributor supplying the remaining ten. The range will include 8 x 4 Woodgrain MFMDF as well as FSC veneered Oak and Walnut MDF.
Chris Sutton, Director of James Latham, who led the negotiations on behalf of the Latham team commented: "This is the culmination of months of hard work and effort from all parties and we are delighted to have arrived at this point. We are very much looking forward to developing our partnership with Travis Perkins even further."
Steve Bareham, Category Management Director for Travis Perkins said: "We have been trading with James Latham for many years and so we know and trust both the product and service they deliver. That consistency, coupled with their extended range and knowledge of the sheet material market was critical to us selecting Lathams as one of our preferred suppliers of non-core sheet material."
As part of the agreement, James Latham will guarantee next day delivery on all sheet material ordered before 3.00pm. Lathams will also assist with product training for staff at Travis Perkins branches as well as the development of marketing material and literature.
