Costain-Skanska JV Open Its Doors To Crossrail Project
A Costain-Skanska JV recently opened its doors to give members of the general public a rare view of Europe's largest infrastructure project, Crossrail.
Almost 350 people attended the 'Open House' event with 14 tours conducted by Crossrail, Costain Skanska JV, Bechtel and BFK.
Crossrail Bond Street opened its doors at 75 Davies Street so that stakeholders could hear a short factual presentation on the entire scheme and the Bond Street project. Visitors were then given the opportunity to view the work being done by CSJV and BFK at the Western and Eastern Ticket Halls.
Costain’s Claire Carr and James Moloney volunteered to help members of the public understand the size, scale and technical ingenuity of the overall project, which will run from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west, through twin-bore 21 km tunnels under central London, before forking at Stepney Green for Shenfield near Brentwood and Abbey Wood in southeast London.
Once completed, the 118 kilometre high frequency rail route will have 37 stations including seven new underground stations at Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Canary Wharf.
