Apprentices And Employers To Be Given Recognition For Their Work
Young engineering apprentices and their employers in Hull are set to be given recognition for their work at an award ceremony this week.
The Annual Engineering Centre Awards Ceremony on Friday 26 October is set to see apprentices and their employers awarded for their outstanding achievements in the following categories:
•Apprentice of the Year
•Advanced Apprentice of the Year
•Outstanding Achievement of the Year.
•Higher Education Award
•Employer Award
The event is being hosted by BBC Radio Humberside presenter, Neil Rudd and will also see speeches from:
•Deputy Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull, Councillor Nadine Fudge
•Hull North MP Diana Johnson
•Apprentices Dale Cook and Danny Cawthorne who will talk about their experiences
Councillor Steven Bayes, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration and Employment, said: "Hull City Council's Hull Training team have helped apprentices achieve over 1,000 qualifications and awards this year. This is a fantastic accomplishment and its pleasing to see so many young people aspiring to improve their education and learn valuable new skills.
"Whilst times are tough for everyone nationally at the moment, it's important to reflect on the achievements of Hull's young apprentices. Any additional education and training young people do is vital to help them with their future careers. With young apprentices in particular it will help them learn the skills that are being demanded by organisations."
