Mencap's Daycentre Gets A Makeover
Places for People have given Mencap's daycentre in Eastbourne a £25,000 makeover.
The work was completed in 1 day as part of a regional team challenge. The 46-strong team redecorated the ground floor, installed a wheelchair ramp and created a new storage area. A seaside-themed mural was painted in one of the rooms and new signage fitted.
It's estimated that the works would have cost around £25,000 with a commercial contractor.
David Hooper - Regional Manager for London and South East said: "We're committed to investing in communities and the team challenge is a great way to give something back. We are delighted to have helped make a very positive difference to all who work and rely on Eastbourne Mencap."
Peter Plowman - Eastbourne Mencap said: "Over the years the building has become tired-looking - both externally and internally. However, the demand for funds is such that finances have never stretched to a refurbishment to this extent.
"The generous work by Places for People is remarkable. We will never forget their support in terms of time, skill and hard work."
