Kier Appoints New SHE Manager

Kier has appointed Mike Webb as the new safety, health and environment (SHE) manager within its maintenance business.

Mike will work with all SHE managers and advisors across the company's regional contracts to ensure that Kier continues to exceed legislative requirements regionally and nationally, and to introduce a series of initiatives.

The first of these will see Mike take responsibility for launching the Positive Safety Leadership programme, which he has already helped to put in place across Kier's construction business. Supported by the British Safety Council, Positive Safety Leadership recognises both positive and negative behaviour to enhance awareness of individuals’ behaviour leading to a unified culture of responsibility.

Arriving from Kier Construction's major projects team, where he was a health & safety manager, Mike most recently worked on the prestigious Featherstone 2 'super prison' in Wolverhampton, which he describes as "an innovative, exemplar project with very lofty safety demands, where the highest thresholds were demanded as standard".

Prior to joining Kier, Mike worked as group health & safety manager at Old House Holdings Group and then as a SHE consultant at RG Wilbrey with clients including Taylor Wimpey and Bowman Kirkland.
