FMB Welcomes Quality Over Quantity In Apprenticeship Training

Apprenticeships should be clearly defined in order to distinguish them from other vocational or on-the-job training according to a newly published review into the future of apprenticeships.

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has welcomed the Richard Review's recommendations for prioritising quality over quantity when it comes to apprenticeship training.

Brian Berry, FMB Chief Executive said: "We agree with Doug Richard that apprenticeships should be based on industry standards. Construction industry apprenticeships are designed to equip learners with the craft and technical skills needed to start a sustainable career and government funding must continue to support employers, particularly smaller ones, to make this investment in their own business and the future workforce.

"We also welcome the call to make it easier for employers and learners to access data about apprenticeships to help identify inconsistencies in quality and outcomes and help match training provision to employer demand."
