Mabey Hire Appoints Two Industry Leaders
Mabey Hire has announced it is boosting its engineering leadership and strengthening its growth strategy with two significant industry hires, Tom Williams and Brian Williams.
Tom Williams, who joins as Director of Engineering, will be responsible for the leadership of the engineering team whilst ensuring both the internal and external clients receive industry leading, safe and commercially optimised temporary works solutions.
A chartered civil engineer, Tom has extensive experience in both design and management across the diverse range of civil and structural engineering sectors, with companies including MOUCHEL, London Underground, Robert West and Price & Myers. Tom will lead Mabey Hire’s product development team, managing the development process to ensure the range and quality of the company’s products are continually improved.
Brian Williams, Mabey Hire's new Corporate Development Director, has 17 years' leadership experience in the industry, with companies such as Pilkington Plc., British Vita and Shanks Group Plc. Brian will research new products in both existing and new business areas.
Brian Williams joins Mabey to drive its business plan, to expand product lines, and continue its commitment to innovation in engineering: "Mabey Hire is a well respected industry name, and with its continuous growth and expanding service lines, it’s an exciting time to join. I look forward to supporting the company’s ambitious business plans," he said.
Tom Williams was a lead engineer on the earthquake recovery programme in Christchurch. He was responsible for managing the team, but was tactically deployed, due to the safety critical elements of the work. Much of the work involved designing Temporary Works solutions to stabilise damaged buildings, whilst they were demolished or reconstructed.
"I look forward to working as part of the Mabey Hire team, both evangelising and putting into practice engineering best practice. The work of engineers goes sometimes unsung, and we intend to demonstrate that this is an exciting industry to be involved in," said Tom Williams.
The appointments follow the recent news of the Student Link project, an educational scheme which aims to assist and boost the education of future civil engineers by working directly with universities to give unique insight, help and opportunities to students.
