Morgan Sindall has handed over the next three schools in Hull City Council’s £400 million Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
The company, which has offices in Hull, completed work on Andrew Marvell College, Kingswood Academy and Oakfield Special School, worth a combined total of £64.5 million.
Morgan Sindall is part of Hull Esteem Consortium, which was chosen as a preferred supplier by Hull City Council to deliver most of the BSF programme. Esteem also includes Hull-based Sewell Group and Robertson Capital Projects.
All three school buildings feature state-of-the-art technology. Kingswood College is an arts specialist school and features media facilities, a recording studio, and industry-standard science, fine-art and technology facilities. The school also includes a theatre to be used for both the school and local community productions which features a dedicated 'plaza' entrance and box office.
The new Oakfield Special School campus has enabled pupil roll to increase from 60 to 90 and provides educational support for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). Located on the original school site, Andrew Marvel College is now situated in one building, and includes many facilities to public use including a fitness suite and a library.
Chris Brown, area director for Morgan Sindall for the North East, said: "We are pleased to hand over the keys to the next wave of world-class learning environments, which will no doubt put Hull on the map. Morgan Sindall understands the impact school buildings have on the education of the pupils who attend and is able to use its wealth of skills and expertise on these ambitious projects to ensure we create an ideal learning environment for the students of Hull.
"Each partner involved in the Hull BSF scheme shares this sense of pride in welcoming pupils into some of the best education facilities in the country. The completion of these schools, and our current work on St Marys College, strengthens Morgan Sindall’s long-term plans to maintain our roots in Hull and unlock additional opportunities in the city."
