The EiiF TIPCHECK programme trains qualified engineers to perform energy audits. Certified TIPCHECK engineers provide clients with an independent report on the state of their insulation.
Places on the first course are strictly limited and available on a first come, first served basis. The course takes place from 5 to 8 March 2013 at TICA’s head office, in Darlington, County Durham.
A TIPCHECK is a tool and method to quantify the amount of energy and money, which a facility loses with its current insulation system. It also demonstrates how a more efficient system could:
Save energy
Improve process control and efficiency
Save money
Contribute to a cleaner environment through reduced emissions
Reduce safety risks to personnel.
A TIPCHECK is not intended to be a full system analysis but it helps to identify areas with the highest energy-saving potential. These areas offer the most rapid payback – the time, which improvements in insulation take to cover their cost in terms of energy savings. All cost savings are calculated in Euros.

It is virtually impossible to assess all process piping in a facility but a TIPCHECK usually includes assessment of un-insulated lines, insulated lines and speciality equipment. These installations promise a rapid payback time - most often of a year or less.
Employers/companies must be a member of the European Industrial Insulation Foundation (EiiF) as a minimum entry requirement – so all delegates must be an employee of TICA member company.
Candidates must also have the following qualifications
•4 years of experience in insulation projects in the industrial environment
•A degree in engineering (or similar)
•Ability to calculate and design industrial insulation systems
•Employee of an EiiF partner or member with a quality management system in place
•Participation in a four-day TIPCHECK course plus examination
•Participation in a refresher course every three years.
If candidates do not meet all of the requirements, their application may still be accepted if they can provide sufficient proof to show insulation knowledge and qualification.
Candidacy must be supported by an EiiF member. Applicants’ candidacy and qualification must be approved by the EiiF Foundation Director.
Training costs 2,000 Euros, which is payable in advance to the EiiF. The cost of a TIPCHECK Licence (from Year 2) is 1,000 Euros. This includes use of TIPCHECK software and a training course to update engineers every three years.
