Peterborough Hospice Benefits From Kier's Safe Working Practices
Kier Construction has given another East Anglian charity a financial boost thanks to its safety award scheme, in which the company directors reward those sites that demonstrate exemplary safety standards with funds to give to their chosen charity.
Kier’s project at Stanground Academy in Peterborough was judged the safest site, and site manager Mick Godfrey and the team voted that Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall hospice in Peterborough should benefit from their £200 reward.
Sue Ryder was selected by the Kier team in support of the pupils at Stanground Academy, who have chosen it as one of their nominated charities for the year.
Alison Toomey, who accepted the donation on behalf of Thorpe Hall, commented: "We are extremely grateful to Kier for this wonderful gift. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Sue Ryder charity and we have only been able to continue to provide incredible care for so many years because of the wonderful support we have from local people and businesses.
"This money will make a huge difference to the people we care for in the area and we very much appreciate Kier’s fantastic support."
Kier director Dennis Cotton added: "Our initiative of recognising excellent site safety performance with charitable donations has proven very successful.
"We are currently carrying out a number of projects in Peterborough and have developed a good relationship with the staff and pupils at Stanground Academy, so we are delighted to help them support Sue Ryder Care and the invaluable care they provide at Thorpe Hall."
