Union Calls For Talks With Morrison

Construction union UCATT are calling for meaningful talks and negotiations with Morrison in Leeds.

The company concerned Morrison Facilities Services (now owned by Mears following a takeover in 2012) employs over 250 people, undertaking responsive and planned maintenance on over 70 per cent of council properties in Leeds.

UCATT has been attempting to enter into meaningful negotiations with Morrison on a number of issues including potential redundancies at the company. Morrison are also planning on imposing a new bonus scheme on workers, without proper negotiations, from 1st April 2013. UCATT believes the proposed bonus scheme is flawed and will lead to some workers seeing a cut in their pay.

Rob Morris, Acting Regional Secretary for UCATT Yorkshire, said: "The failure of Morrison to hold proper meaningful talks is damaging the morale of the workforce. Our members work hard and the management at Morrison should respect that and agree to undertake genuine negotiations.

"Morrison need to resolve the redundancy situation before addressing the issues around pay and bonuses. There is no need to impose the proposed flawed bonus scheme from the 1st April."
