Balfour Beatty Awarded Bishop's Court Commercial Scheme
Balfour Beatty has been awarded the £17m Bishop's Court commercial scheme for Henderson Global Investors.
Situated on the South side of Bishop's Square in the Spitalfields regeneration area, the works include demolition of the existing seven storey building and the construction of a new mixed retail/office building.
The new structure will incorporate the existing basement retaining walls, the tops of which will be trimmed down and a new capping beam cast on the top. The superstructure will consist of flat floor slabs at ground with post-tensioned RC floors above from levels one to six.
Level six is constructed from a steel frame sitting on a post tensioned RC floor slab. Set-back floors at levels five and six receive fully glazed cladding. These floors will also benefit from terraces overlooking Bishops Square and Spitalfields beyond.
The reception, toilets and upper floor circulation areas will be fully finished and fitted with all office areas completed to a Cat A standard. The building will be completed to provide a BREEAM excellent rating.
Bob Clark, Balfour Beatty Managing Director, Major Projects, said: "The London commercial sector is a key growth area for Balfour Beatty.
"These recent wins demonstrate our continuing success and our ability to deliver prestigious schemes to the highest standards."
