Kier has been selected by the Homes & Communities Agency for all four of the lots on its new Delivery Partner Panel Framework (DPP2).
Worth up to £4bn in housing and associated development over the next four years, DPP2 is divided into four geographical lots covering most of England and will be used to speed the development of housing on land owned by the HCA and other public sector bodies.
The Greater London Authority (GLA) is procuring a similar, but separate panel covering London, for which Kier is also being considered.
DPP2 will predominately cover the procurement of housing-led development. The main aim of the panel is to make the procurement of a developer as quick and efficient as possible for both private sector panel members and public sector panel users. It will build on the work already done through the HCA's existing DPP, through which the HCA delivered over 24,000 homes between 2010 and 2013.
The companies selected to DPP2 are expected to cover all areas of activity required to develop housing, including: the raising of development finance, obtaining planning permission, supply chain management, design and construction of houses - including the provision of affordable housing in association with a registered provider - design and construction of buildings and infrastructure to support housing, sales and marketing of homes, aftercare and maintenance.
Kier Group chief executive Paul Sheffield commented: "This is a tremendous achievement for Kier and one that will play a significant role in our delivery of mixed tenure affordable housing for the next four years. Through both our specialist affordable housing company Kier Partnership Homes, and our regional contracting business, we are able to offer national coverage and to respond to regeneration and mixed tenure opportunities as few others can. We are delighted to have been chosen by the HCA across the whole of England, to build on the projects that we are already delivering through DPP."
